The violin is a bowed string instrument with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. It is the smallest and highest-pitched member of the violin family of string instruments, which also includes the viola and cello.
A violin is sometimes informally called a fiddle, a term originating from the instrument's use in folk music, but sometimes used regardless of the music played on it. The words "violin" and "fiddle" come from the Middle Latinvitula, meaning "stringed instrument,"[1] but "violin" came through the Romance languages, meaning small viola, and "fiddle" through Germanic languages. word
A person who plays the violin is called a violinist or fiddler, and a person who makes or repairs them is called a luthier, or simply a violin maker.
as you may know violin emerged in 16th century and it wasn't popular. It wasn't regarded as a classical instrument by upper class but later some composers started to use violin in their pieces and composed violin concertos. And when some virtuoso emerged violin became more popular.
And now it is probably most known and most loved instrument. The reason for that in my opinion is you can play fasted and very slow music with it and it's E string is emotional which works well with slow music.
